November 11th 2013

November 11th 2013 is when Landon and I got engaged! It was such a special and simple day. I didn't have a blog then, so I'm going to get all nostalgic on here and do a little recap ;)

Landon had school off that day because of the holiday, and my boss was nice enough to let me take the rest of the day off after lunch. We were going to the Farm in Scottsdale for lunch and also going to do some scouting for a reception location. We ordered an Italian sandwich and the BBQ pulled pork. They were DELICIOUS. We haven't been back since because their hours are weird, but we always reminisce on their greatness. After we ate, we walked around and decided that even though it's gorgeous and spacious, it wasn't what we were looking for. We were trying to figure out where we should go look next, and Lando suggested this place just a few miles further. It was where our friends Alex and Tyler got married, and he thought I would really love it. It was closed for the holiday, but we were still able to park and walk around. I fell in love with it instantly. We were both planning and picturing it in our heads, it was perfect. Lights were already hung and falling from the trees, there were benches for the guests to relax on, a dancing area, everything we wanted. We were sitting on bench, planning it all out when I suggested we go get cupcakes from Sprinkles. Dessert it always on my mind, and I was tired of wedding planning ;) Landon wouldn't budge and I couldn't figure out why. I wanted cupcakes! After like 10 minutes of trying to get him to move, he said "okay let's go, but first I want to ask you something" he pulls my ring out of his pocket! He said some really sweet and beautiful things, that I'll never forget, and then asked me to be his wife. I said uh DUH. Yes times 1000. I was totally surprised. I honestly didn't think my ring was going to be in for another 2 weeks, so in my head I was already planning our engagement then! The ring had come in early and he'd been carrying it around in his pocket for the past two days, waiting for the right moment to ask. It was more than perfect. It was just us two, the way I always pictured it. He had also brought his camera so we could take celebratory pictures...which we did! They were posed and cheesy and such a fun way for us to capture the moment.

Afterwards, we did go to Sprinkles and get cupcakes. I had my first dress fitting that afternoon, and Landon knew that, which is another reason he chose that day to propose, so I could try on my dress with my ring, like a proper engaged woman ;)

We ended the night at Tomaso's in Phoenix, for some amazing (expensive) Italian food. It was the fanciest place we'd ever eaten at, and for dessert they had written 'Congratulations' on our plate. We were on cloud nine. It's an incredible feeling, finding the one you're meant to spend the rest of your life with. And cough, cough we had finally found each other! Haha. We didn't end up getting this place for our reception, since it was out of our budget. The place we ended up with was just as beautiful and I truly believe it was meant to be!
I don't ever want to plan another wedding, but I'll also never forget how exciting and amazing that time of our lives was.
Okay...sappy trip down memory lane now over.
