More California Adventures

For Labor Day, I jokingly suggested to Landon that we get away for the weekend and maybe go to California to go to the beach...since our last beach trip got ruined from the rain. I was fully expecting Landon to say no since he usually shoots down all my getaway ideas ;) somehow SeaWorld get negotiated and he was all for it. Just for the record, I wanted to go to Universal Studios and was fully against supporting SeaWorld in any way!

We got there and Landon was like a kid on Christmas. First stop was the baby leopard sharks.

Seal selfie.

So much sass! The birds around these guys cracked me up. If you weren't careful and threw your fish just right, the birds would swoop in and steal it. We watched a few kids get their fish stolen by birds and it was hilarious!

Pre-soaking. He wanted to sit right in the middle of the splash zone...

Ok, the show was kind of cool. Except we really did get soaked! Multiple times. It seems they only have the dolphins splash the middle soak zone...people were jumping out of their seats and running up the stairs because they couldn't stand getting splashed anymore. There was a guy sitting next to Landon who kept trying to hide behind him...I still have salt in my camera lens!

Soaked! I had to go back to the car and change my shirt because it was so drenched.

Penguins!

The allusive beluga whale.

The Artic exhibit was really cool to see. As awesome as it is to see these animals in real life...it still makes me said seeing them caged up in such small spaces.

The pet show was really fun. I'd never seen it before. The trained pigs were the best.

Always trying to win prizes wherever we go.

My favorite part (if you can have a favorite part at a place you hate) is the shark exhibit. Next to monkeys, they're my favorite animal! So fierce and scary.

"Dude!"

My first time riding the Atlantis. It was fun! Rides that are visibly run down and wobbly always freak me out, and this was no exception. I thought we were going to fly off the tracks it was so rickety.
We got that SeaWorld cup for free! We never buy those souvenir cups, but we were dying from the heat and needed something. We went to check out and the register wasn't working and the lady was like "just take it, this is going to take forever" Score! And the Icee refills were only 2$ all day, so we were in heaven,

"Look, sea urchins!"

Shamu. I won't even pretend that I liked this show. It was hard to watch. Anything will do tricks if you bribe it enough and that's what the whole show is! A big fish swimming around to eat handfuls of little fish. Not as impressive as it was when I was a little girl. It was really sad.

We still had a great day!

We decided to leave SeaWorld pretty early, and head to San Clemente to grab dinner and check into our hotel. We stayed at the cute little beach inn again, and it was perfect. We decided after seeing fish all day that we needed some sushi ;) Landon got the baked lobster rolls and they were delicious.

The next morning we got up early and went to this incredible bagel place. Hands down, some of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. And the acai bowls were amazing too!

The beach gods were on our side that day. It's like they knew we were coming and saved the good weather just for us.

The beach is definitely my happy place. (besides Disneyland..duh)

Making me a sand gift.

After the beach, we hit up Fins! Where else?? Every time we come to California we have to make a pit stop here. We're obsessed.

After dinner, we decided we needed ice cream cones pronto dente. Our vacations are mostly just us going to a different location and trying out new restaurants. We love to eat! Probably too much...

Absolute heaven. I got the homemade chocolate chip cookie dough, with real cookies in it! and rocky road. I still think of that cookie dough..it was the best ice cream I've ever had.

Drool.

We'll be back Sloan's.
